I need help

Image
It looks like an inverted dimple But it's really not so simple It's a feeling of depression and killjoy It can make you cringe and weep And can rob you of your sleep It can plunder all your happiness and joy It settles like a pest Like an uninvited guest It will stay on, no matter how hard you try For some, it will be worse, Like an ancient Indian curse, The pimple was created to destroy It makes me hide and shiver Throw a boulder at my mirror I left my best friends pleading at my gate All the latest disco parties, No, I can't come, all you smarties Why don't you leave me by myself to hibernate? They make these little marks Like I got bitten by some sharks These pimples are the bane of my existence The boys, they call me Spotty It makes me feel like potty These little monsters are just testing my persistence I wish I had a trick Or perhaps a magic stick To make this globule vanish like a ghost If you give me a solution Or a clever magic potion, I wil...

Ek boond...by Ayodhyay Singh Upadhyay

Image
A wonderful poem in Hindi written by legendary poet, Ayodhya Singh Upadhyay, I found it in my daughter's Hindi Text book. । Image courtesy: www.clipartbest.com

"I wish to visit Kashi" The busy man often said.  He finally met the Ganga, Alas...only after he was dead.

Log in...and baggout

Image
It was a bright day, Sometime in hot May, And I thought I would shop till I drop But then on a whim, I went for a swim, It was there that I saw the blue top. Her hair was like silk Her skin was like milk Miss India, was sunbathing in glee And her clothes were so nice Full of sugar and spice I was filled with loath and envy I trudged up the pool Looking like a fool But I couldn’t resist, you see “Where did you get this? “Which sale did I miss?” I imagined the shopping spree. “Oh it wasn’t a store If you want to know more Go to baggout.com and browse It’s not like a shop But it’s more like a prop To get deals on bag, clothes or blouse.” “So unlike most websites Which seem so trite This one will tell you what’s best People put their suggestions You can ask them more questions, And will separate the good from the rest” “It will give you coupons It will give your cash back It will tell you what to take, what ...

Point of View

I learnt this poem way back in school and even now it makes so much sense. Sometimes, to see things as they are, you have to change your own position.  Here it goes... Head downward hung the bat It looked over field and town "It's very clear to me," he said "The world is upside down." "How silly," laughed the pup "You know it isn't true The world is right side up What's upside down is you."

If...A heartfelt plea to the smelly man, Kipling style

Image
If...a heartfelt plea to the smelly man If you think you can keep your head when all around you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, And if your colleagues who always lunched with you Now seem to have disappeared into the blue Your assistant whose heart did the tango for you, She’s giving excuses that there’s too much work to do Or if your young interns for whom you were a star No longer seem interested in your fancy new car. If at home, the sorry situation is no better Your wife won’t be seen but talks through a letter, And if the roses in your window, ones that you bloomed Seem to have shriveled and immersed in a pall of gloom And if one day, most unfortunately, you discover That you spend more on air freshener than on food or water Or if one day morning while you’re out on your jog, You discover you’re followed by the neighbourhood dogs. If it finally dawns on you, if you’re lucky enough You’ll realize what’s happening and why it’s so to...
